TEFILLOS FOR THE REBBE: Vizhnitzer Rebbe Remains in Ora Due to Weakness; Family Simchos Rescheduled

Oct 16, 2026·3 min read

Changes have been announced to the schedule of the Vizhnitzer Rebbe of Bnei Brak, Rav Yisroel Hager, after the Rebbe experienced weakness associated with an inflammation, prompting his household to cancel his planned return to Bnei Brak for Shabbos Parshas Noach and arrange for him to remain at his residence in Moshav Ora, near Yerushalayim, to rest and regain his strength.

The decision has also resulted in changes to two upcoming family simchos, including the postponement of a grandson’s bar mitzvah celebration and the relocation of a great-grandson’s bris from Kiryas Vizhnitz in Bnei Brak to Moshav Ora.

The Rebbe had spent the month of Tishrei at his residence in Bnei Brak, where he participated in nearly all the Yom Tov tefillos and communal gatherings attended by large numbers of chassidim.

Following the conclusion of the Yomim Tovim, the Rebbe traveled to his resting residence in Moshav Ora for a period of recuperation following the demanding Tishrei schedule.

Earlier this week, Vizhnitz officials announced that the Rebbe was expected to return to his home in Kiryas Vizhnitz in Bnei Brak in time for Shabbos Parshas Noach.

However, the Rebbe’s household subsequently issued an updated announcement explaining that, because he was experiencing weakness resulting from an inflammation, he would remain in Ora for Shabbos rather than undertake the planned trip.

As a result, the bar mitzvah celebration of the Rebbe’s grandson, habochur Moshe Yehoshua Hager, which had been scheduled for Motzoei Shabbos, has been postponed to a later date.

The bar mitzvah bochur is a son of Rav Menachem Mendel Hager, a son-in-law of the Vizhnitzer Rebbe and a son of the late rav of Seret Vizhnitz in Yerushalayim.

A second change involves the bris of the Rebbe’s great-grandson, a son of Rav Yissachar Ber Hager, whose father is Rav Menachem Mendel Hager and whose father-in-law is Rav Avrohom Shimon Marilus.

The bris had originally been scheduled to take place Sunday in Kiryas Vizhnitz in Bnei Brak. Under the revised arrangements, the simcha will instead be held in Moshav Ora, near the Rebbe’s residence.

The adjustments will allow the family simcha to take place in proximity to the Rebbe without requiring him to travel back to Bnei Brak while he is recuperating.

Vizhnitzer chassidim are following the developments with concern and continue to daven for the Rebbe’s complete and speedy recovery.

The public is asked to daven for Rav Yisroel ben Leah Esther, l’refuah sheleimah b’soch she’ar cholei Yisroel.
