Ocean County Maintains AAA Bond Rating, Reflecting Strong Financial Stability

Oct 18, 2026·2 min read

Ocean County has once again secured the highest possible AAA bond rating from Moody’s Investors Service and Fitch Ratings, maintaining its strong financial standing and stable outlook.

The Ocean County Board of Commissioners announced Friday that the county continues to benefit from a growing and diversified economy, supported by its beachfront communities and continued development in inland areas.

According to county officials, Ocean County maintains healthy financial reserves and relatively low debt levels compared to other New Jersey counties. These factors have helped the county retain its AAA rating, which it first achieved in 2010.

Moody’s cited the county’s large and diverse tax base, modest debt obligations, and consistent financial performance as key reasons for maintaining the top rating.

The AAA designation allows Ocean County to borrow money at favorable interest rates, reducing costs for taxpayers when financing major infrastructure projects, including road and bridge improvements, county building upgrades, and other capital investments.

County officials said financial reserves are expected to remain stable through the end of 2026, with continued economic growth and responsible budgeting helping maintain the county’s strong financial position.

The Board of Commissioners emphasized that preserving fiscal stability remains a top priority while ensuring the county can continue investing in essential infrastructure and services for residents.
