The Israel Defense Forces warned Gazans Sunday not to approach the Yellow Line, the line demarcating Israeli-controlled territory in Gaza from Hamas-controlled territory.

The military noted that Hamas has recently increased its activity near the Yellow Line, posing a direct threat to its troops, which the IDF said would be met with “decisive action.”

IDF spokesperson Lt. Col. Ella Waweya, who speaks fluent Arabic, released a video statement along with a written one warning Gazans that the military would treat any activity near the Yellow Line as a threat.

Residents of GazaStrip, take heed to ensure your safety: Refrain from approaching or crossing the yellow line.

• Forces of the Israel Defense Forces are deployed in the yellow line area, where they are working to thwart threats and terrorist activities. Approaching the yellow line or being in its vicinity may put your lives at risk due to military activity in the area.
• In recent times, the Israel Defense Forces have observed an escalation in hostile activities carried out by the terrorist Hamas movement in the yellow line area, alongside an increase in attempts by the movement’s elements and its agents to approach it. The terrorist movement operates among the civilian population and in their vicinity, thereby endangering their lives.
• The Israel Defense Forces clarify: The Israel Defense Forces will act against threats and attempts to carry out terrorist activity in the area, in accordance with international law, with the aim of protecting its forces and maintaining the security of the State of Israel and its residents.
• Any attempt to attack Israel Defense Forces troops in the yellow line area will be met with a determined response to thwart the threat.
• Residents of the Gaza Strip, to ensure your safety, take care not to approach or cross the yellow line.
