Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu recalled warning French President Emmanuel Macron on October 7, 2023, that failing to stop Hamas in Israel would bring the threat to France.

In a clip from C14 English’s Israel Debrief, Netanyahu recounted telling Macron: “If we don’t stop Hamas here, you’ll see them on the streets of Paris.”

According to Netanyahu’s account, Macron called him on the day of the Hamas-led attack and urged an immediate ceasefire and a diplomatic solution. Netanyahu said he rejected that approach.

“No, Emmanuel. It’s not going to be solved by diplomacy,” Netanyahu recalled responding. He described Hamas as “monsters” and “neo-Nazis,” saying the group had to be destroyed.

The remarks describe Netanyahu’s recollection of the conversation, rather than a recording of the call itself.
