Disturbing Vandalism at NYC Capital One Branch Sparks Call for Hate Crime Investigation
A Capital One bank was vandalized with graffiti and windows shattered at the branch on 86th Street. Red graffiti included pro-Palestinian slogans and an inverted red triangle, a symbol used in Hamas propaganda videos that has since been adopted by some pro-Palestinian activist groups.
Statement from Speaker Julie Menin:
“The vandalism and destruction at the Capital One branch on 86th Street is deeply disturbing and unacceptable. I have been in contact with the NYPD regarding this incident and have urged an immediate investigation, including whether this is a potential antisemitic hate crime. There is no place for hate, intimidation or violence in New York City.”
Statement from UJA-Federation of New York:
“It is disturbing to see graffiti against Israeli companies and vandalism like this in New York. We remain in close touch with CSI Security NY and law enforcement partners as they investigate the matter and hopefully identify the perpetrators.”
