Federal Inspectors Find No Violations at Six Flags Great Adventure Elephant Facility in Jackson

Oct 19, 2026·1 min read

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has cleared Six Flags Great Adventure of animal welfare violations following an inspection of its elephant facility in Jackson Township.

The inspection, completed on October 9, found no compliance issues involving the park’s elephant care operations.

Federal officials conducted the review after animal welfare organization World Animal Protection filed a complaint in September, raising concerns that five African elephants at the park were not being provided with adequate shade in their outdoor enclosure.

The organization based its concerns on aerial photographs taken during the summer, questioning whether the conditions met federal animal welfare requirements.

Six Flags previously rejected the claims, maintaining that its elephants receive proper veterinary attention, have access to indoor and outdoor areas, and benefit from specialized care programs.
The USDA’s latest inspection report identified no violations at the facility
