Jewish Women Punched in the Face in Suspected Hate Attacks in Stamford Hill; Man Arrested
Two Jewish women were punched in the face in suspected hate attacks on Clapton Common in Stamford Hill, London, on Monday, and a man has been arrested, according to Shomrim.
A visibly Jewish woman called Shomrim after being punched in the face by a middle-aged man. Shomrim volunteers arrived 30 seconds later and saw him assault a second Jewish woman, punching her twice in the face and “leaving significant bruising,” the group said.
Hackney police arrested the man on suspicion of racially and religiously aggravated GBH, as well as for outstanding warrants, Shomrim said.
The victims told Shomrim they believe they were assaulted because they are Jewish, “as the offender only targeted Jewish ladies.”
Shomrim said further assaults have been reported and that additional victims have yet to come forward. The group is appealing for witnesses and any other victims to come forward.
