Oct 20, 2026·2 min read

Lakewood-area residents will have another opportunity to apply for property tax relief benefits this Sunday, October 25, during a special assistance event organized by C.A.R.E.S. in partnership with State Senator Robert Singer’s office and Lakewood Township.

The event will take place from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at 36 Shefa Chaim Avenue in Lakewood’s Oak and Vine neighborhood. Representatives from the New Jersey Department of Treasury will be available to answer questions, explain eligibility requirements, and help residents complete and submit applications on the spot. Information will be available in both English and Yiddish.

The ANCHOR program, along with the Senior Freeze and Stay NJ programs, offers eligible residents property tax relief of up to $700 for renters, $1,500 for homeowners age 64 and younger, and up to $6,500 for qualifying senior homeowners through combined benefits.

**The deadline to apply for this year’s benefits is November 2.**

Sunday’s event follows a similar assistance session held in August, during which more than 130 applications were successfully submitted.

Lipa Klein of C.A.R.E.S. thanked the Treasury Department for making representatives available on a Sunday, allowing more residents to receive assistance without interrupting their weekday schedules.

Lakewood Mayor Ray Coles and Township Committeeman Meir Lichtenstein praised the initiative, highlighting the importance of helping local families access available financial relief.

Senator Robert Singer encouraged residents who need assistance completing their applications to attend, while Assemblyman Avi Schnall emphasized the importance of property tax relief programs in helping families manage the rising cost of living.

The event is being coordinated by C.A.R.E.S. with support from Senator Singer’s office, Lakewood Township, and several local businesses and organizations.
