Thousands of Satmar Students Welcome Hochul in Kiryas Joel as Hasidic Leaders Back Her Reelection
New York Gov. Kathy Hochul received a massive welcome from thousands of students at Satmar’s Bais Ruchel girls’ schools in Kiryas Joel on Monday, during a major campaign stop in the Hasidic community ahead of the November 3 election.
The visit highlighted the community’s support for Hochul, including appreciation for her decision to participate in a federal scholarship tax credit program designed to help families afford private and yeshiva tuition through qualifying donations.

Community leaders Gedaliah Szegedin and Moshe Indig joined Hochul on stage as students greeted the governor. She also held a private meeting with Satmar Rebbe Rabbi Ahron Teitelbaum, as community support emerged ahead of her reelection contest against Republican Bruce Blakeman.
Hochul also traveled to New Square on Monday, where she met with the Skverer Rebbe as part of her campaign tour through Rockland County and surrounding Hasidic communities.
