THE SECRET TO INSTANT STARDOM? Just Add ‘Free Palestine’!
A social media user with the handle FactsForPeace posted a music video of a song that hilariously illustrates the grift that is the “Free Palestine” movement.
The singer, dressed in grubby clothes, explains that he couldn’t make it as a singer; no one would buy his music, and he “couldn’t sell out a bar.” Then he discovered the two little words that miraculously changed his fortunes: “Free Palestine.” Once he added those two magical words to his lyrics, his life was transformed, and he sings the rest of his little ditty dressed as a wealthy rapper.
The full lyrics follow:
Free Palestine,
And now the whole world heard,
I was washed up, couldn’t sell out a bar,
Two little words, and I’m a superstar, yeah.
Last time I tried,
And nobody pressed play,
Label called me up,
Like, we’re going a different way.
X took the Prius, and the dog in the dog bed,
Tour got canceled; I was sleeping at my mom’s instead,
3 a.m. scrolling, saw the thing that’s hot,
Watermelon emoji, but that’s my new plot.
Didn’t read the history, didn’t need the facts,
Threw a keffiyeh on, and now my bookings are back,
Now I’m on the late shows, now I’m on the news,
Sold out three nights; merch line, brand new shoes.
Hoodie with the slogan, 120 bucks a pop.
Charity, I am the charity; don’t stop the drop,
Interviewer asked me, “Free it from what?”
I said, “From the river to the sea.”
She said, “Which river?”
“Next question.”
I was washed up, couldn’t sell out a bar,
Two little words, and I’m a superstar.
