A commercial tanker was hit by an unidentified projectile off Oman’s coast on Wednesday, triggering a fire near the strategically important Strait of Hormuz, according to a British maritime security agency.

The vessel was approximately 11 nautical miles (about 20 kilometers) from the coastal town of Bukha when the incident occurred. The UK Maritime Trade Operations agency (UKMTO) reported that the tanker had subsequently anchored.

“All crew are reported as safe. There is no reported environmental impact at this time,” the agency said.
