Lakewood Mayor Ray Coles visited the new Misameach Family Center on Wednesday, where he donated a collection of model trains and accessories for the sick children the center serves.
The trains and accessories come from the mayor’s father, Raymond Coles Sr., and from the mayor’s own children, who have outgrown the hobby.
“The trains belonged to my father and to my children, who have outgrown the hobby,” Mayor Coles told TLS. “My father would be proud to see them bringing joy to these children.”
“I was accompanied by Ted Bertiger, president of the Ocean County Model Railroaders Association,” Coles added. “The group will help set up and maintain the layout to make sure the children enjoy it for many years to come.”
The mayor oversaw the setup of the display platform during the visit. The display is expected to be completed within the next two to three weeks.
