El Al Unveils New In-Flight Experience: AI Service Agent, Pajamas in Business, Poke Bowls in Economy
El Al on Monday unveiled a sweeping upgrade of its in-flight experience, from new bedding in every cabin to luxury amenity kits and a personalized entertainment system, with the changes set to roll out gradually beginning in November.

In a partnership with Israeli textile brand TAKEANAP, the airline will replace the blankets and pillows in economy, premium and business class with products developed specifically for El Al passengers, including blankets tailored to each cabin and soft, down-like pillows. Business class passengers will also receive memory foam pillows with cooling technology, and on flights to North America El Al says it will become the first Israeli airline to offer a mattress topper, a soft layer fitted over the seat. Pajamas, slippers and a calming fragrance spray complete the new business class sleep kit.

Premium cabin passengers will receive new amenity kits in what the airline says is the first collaboration of its kind with British fragrance brand Jo Malone London. The kits come in some ten colors and include socks, an eye mask and hygiene products, alongside a velvet pouch with the brand’s skincare and fragrance items. On long-haul business class flights, the kit will also include perfume and hand and body cream, and Jo Malone scents will be introduced into the aircraft cabin itself.

The food is changing too. Under chef Assaf Granit, economy passengers on short-haul flights to Europe will be able to choose between a sandwich and a poke bowl, while premium cabins get new protein-rich menus developed with a nutritionist, nutritional information displayed next to each dish, and a dessert cart. On long-haul flights, passengers will be served chocolates developed for El Al by De Karina, a boutique chocolatier from Ein Zivan in northern Israel.

A new in-flight entertainment system will offer personal recommendations based on viewing preferences and let passengers resume a movie from where they stopped on a previous flight. Passengers will also be able to log into their Matmid frequent flyer account directly from the seatback screen, and the system will include a dedicated category for religious passengers and a new children’s interface.

The airline’s app will add a “travel mode” that activates 48 hours before departure with live updates on the phone screen, and a new AI-based service representative named Ella will answer passenger questions and help retrieve booking information. Free Starlink satellite internet is planned to begin rolling out on equipped aircraft in 2027.
“The expansion of the premium products we are launching today is intended to provide additional value to customers, strengthen their loyalty, and maintain the company’s standards over time,” said Nadav Hanin, El Al’s vice president of marketing and digital.
