Video Released of Lubavitcher Stabbed in Manhattan; Suspect Allegedly Targeted Multiple Jewish Pedestrians
by CrownHeights.info
Newly released surveillance footage captures the moment a Lubavitcher man from Crown Heights was stabbed from behind in Midtown Manhattan on Wednesday evening, in an attack being investigated as a suspected hate crime.
As previously reported on CrownHeights.info, the incident occurred at approximately 5:30 p.m. near Fifth Avenue and West 47th Street, in Manhattan’s Diamond District. The footage shows a woman approaching the visibly Jewish man from behind and striking him with a sharp object before fleeing the scene.
Additional witness accounts have raised concerns that the victim may have been deliberately targeted because of his Jewish appearance. The woman was reportedly seen approaching another Jewish person and going after them as well, while passing multiple non-Jewish pedestrians without attacking them. These accounts have intensified suspicions of an antisemitic motive, though the circumstances and motive remain under investigation.
Hatzalah responded to the scene and transported the victim to Bellevue Hospital, where he was reported to be in stable condition.
The suspect was described as a woman in her 30s, approximately 5 feet 9 inches tall, wearing blue jeans and white sneakers, with a dark sweater tied around her waist. She reportedly fled west toward Sixth Avenue.
The NYPD’s Hate Crimes Task Force is investigating the incident. Anyone with information that could help identify the suspect is urged to contact the authorities.
