Israeli Spokesman Challenges Narrative Portraying Settlers As Main Threat In Judea And Samaria

Oct 22, 2026·2 min read

JERUSALEM (VINnews) — The Prime Minister’s Office on Thursday released a video in which spokesman Doron Spielman questions the accuracy of statistics and media coverage that cast Jewish residents of Judea and Samaria as the greatest obstacle to peace.

In the video, Spielman examines claims advanced by United Nations agencies, advocacy groups and international news outlets. He argues that some widely circulated figures on violence fail to account for the full context of attacks targeting Jewish communities and individuals living in the region.

The presentation includes accounts of specific incidents involving Jewish families who were targeted in shootings and other assaults. Spielman also raises questions about the role of the Palestinian Authority in funding campaigns that he describes as aimed at undermining Jewish presence in areas with deep historical ties to the Jewish people, including Hebron and the Tomb of the Patriarchs.

Critics of Israeli policy have long cited data from the U.N. Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs and other sources to document what they term settler violence. Spielman contends that such reporting often amplifies certain incidents while giving less attention to the broader pattern of attacks against Israelis.

The video comes amid ongoing international scrutiny of events in the Judea and Samaria Region, where both Palestinian attacks on Israelis and isolated incidents involving Jewish residents have drawn attention. Israeli officials have repeatedly stated that the government investigates and prosecutes criminal acts by any party.

Spielman, who serves as an international spokesman for the Prime Minister’s Office, has previously addressed media coverage of violence in the area in interviews, arguing that the overall security picture is frequently distorted.
