IDF Plans Major Multi-Front Defense Drill Ahead of Israel’s National Election
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) will conduct a military exercise next week to rehearse responses to a coordinated attack on multiple fronts, shortly before Israel’s national election.
The drill is scheduled for Sunday and Monday across northern and central Israel. The Israeli Air Force, Northern Command and Central Command will participate. The military warned that residents in the affected areas should expect a heightened presence of security personnel and aircraft during the exercise.
According to the IDF, the exercise “aims to practice and improve the IDF’s readiness for multi-front defense along the borders and preparedness to transition to an escalation.”
Military personnel will rehearse “a variety of scenarios, including a surprise attack and infiltration into Israeli territory by air and land,” the IDF said. The training will also incorporate lessons learned from the October 7 attack.
The military emphasized that the exercise was planned in advance and is not being conducted in response to an imminent threat. It added that there is no concern about a security incident.
