Borough Park Charity Yad Ephraim Receives $600,000 In State Funding

Oct 23, 2026·2 min read

BROOKLYN (VINnews) — Yad Ephraim, a Brooklyn-based charity founded by Borough Park resident Rabbi Shalom Pesach Greenberg, has secured $600,000 in state funding through New York State Sen. Sam Sutton.

For years, Yad Ephraim has been a household name in Brooklyn, providing warm meals and support to countless patients and family members who unfortunately find themselves spending Shabbos at Maimonides Medical Center.

The organization provides freshly prepared food to hospitalized patients and their loved ones, helping ease the burden of medical emergencies and extended hospital stays. Its volunteers ensure that families can focus on their loved ones without having to worry about obtaining meals during an already stressful time.

What began as a volunteer effort to bring food and refreshments to hospital patients has grown into a community-wide operation. Yad Ephraim provides meals throughout the day and maintains a Bikur Cholim hospitality room stocked with food, drinks and other necessities.

The organization also distributes Shabbos packages directly to hospital rooms, helping patients and their families observe Shabbos while remaining at the hospital. Its volunteers offer additional assistance during Jewish holidays and provide support to families navigating difficult medical situations.

Beyond its hospital services, Yad Ephraim assists elderly and homebound individuals with meals and other essential needs.

The organization’s work reflects the Jewish tradition of bikur cholim, caring for the sick, providing practical assistance and bringing comfort to patients and their families during challenging times.

The $600,000 in state funding announced by Sutton will support Yad Ephraim’s ongoing work serving patients and families throughout the community.

Proud to secure $600,000 in funding for Yad Ephraim, which provides free hot meals, emotional support, accommodations to hospitalized patients in Borough Park and more. Looking forward to seeing all the families and patients that will benefit from this additional funding https://t.co/jL28H53GWL
