Emulating his holy and illustrious grandfather, the Minchas Elozor of Munkatch, who commissioned the writing of his personal sefer Torah in his later years, the Munkatcher Rebbe, shlit"a, privately initiated a new sefer Torah seven years ago, away from the public eye, purely for the sake of fulfilling the mitzvah of kesivas sefer Torah. The sefer Torah is now nearing its completion, and the Rebbe and his chassidim are preparing to celebrate this incredible milestone with great joy and ecstasy. 

According to those in the know, the Rebbe commissioned this sefer Torah seven years ago from a master sofer in Eretz Yisrael, who then toiled meticulously to complete it over seven years. The Rebbe gave the sofer clear instructions in the details of writing the sefer Torah, according to the traditions of his holy forbears, and in keeping with the secrets of kabbalah. 

Now, as the sefer Torah is nearing completion, the Rebbe summoned his children and grandchildren to his home for a private writing of the final letters, finally inscribing the last letters himself, with great joy and emotion--culminating with fervent and joyous dancing at this incredible milestone. 

The official hachnosas sefer will take place in the coming weeks, bringing together scores of Munktacher chassidim and admirers for the celebration of this historic milestone as the Rebbe escorts his personal sefer Torah to his Beis Medrash in Boro Park where it will be treasured for decades to come.
