IDF Eliminates Two Terrorists Involved in Transferring Millions of Shekels to Hamas, Dismantles Weapons Facility

JERUSALEM (VINnews) — The Israel Defense Forces and the Israel Security Agency said Sunday that forces eliminated two terrorists last week who were involved in transferring millions of shekels to Hamas and dismantled a weapons storage facility in the Gaza Strip.

In a strike in the Gaza City area on Wednesday, the IDF eliminated Alaa Ibrahim Nimer Arshi, a terrorist cell commander in the military wing of Hamas, according to the joint announcement.

In a separate strike in the Nuseirat area on Tuesday, forces eliminated Karam Riyad Hassan Abu Butaihan, a terrorist from the Islamic Jihad organization who was involved in transferring funds to the military wing of Hamas.

Both men were involved throughout the war in facilitating the transfer of millions of shekels from the Iranian regime and Turkey to Hamas’ military wing, the security agencies said. The funds were recently used to support Hamas’ efforts to rebuild its military capabilities and plan terrorist attacks against IDF troops and Israeli civilians, which the announcement described as a systematic violation of the ceasefire. The terrorists were eliminated to remove the threat.

On Thursday, the IDF and ISA struck and dismantled a weapons storage facility in the central Gaza Strip in an aerial strike. The facility was used by Hamas’ military wing to store various types of weapons, including Kalashnikov rifles, a launcher and rockets.

Prior to the strikes, steps were taken to mitigate harm to civilians, including advance warnings to the population before striking the weapons storage facility, the use of precision munitions and aerial surveillance.

The security forces said they will continue to operate to degrade the funding and force-buildup capabilities of terrorist organizations in the Gaza Strip, diminish their military capabilities and thwart any attempts to restore them or possess weapons intended to harm IDF troops. Forces under the Southern Command remain deployed in the area in accordance with the agreement and will continue to operate to remove any threat.
