Lomita Man Charged With Threatening To Shoot Up Jewish Community Center A 43-year-old Lomita man has been charged with felony hate crimes after allegedly threatening to shoot up the Jewish Community Center in Redondo Beach, including making threats involving children. Prosecutors say Paul Dean Andrews repeatedly called the JCC in August, making antisemitic statements and allegedly telling an executive, “I know where you guys are. I know you are on Vail Avenue... I am going to come up and shoot up the place.” According to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office, Andrews had previously been granted diversion in a gun-related case and ordered to complete an anti-bias program through the Museum of Tolerance. Instead, prosecutors allege he later called the museum and a local Jewish temple and made antisemitic threats. Andrews pleaded not guilty and is being held on $275,000 bail. If convicted as charged, he faces up to nine years and four months in state prison.
