Baltimore raccoon tests positive for rabies - only a short drive from the community The apparent surge of animals testing positive for rabies is hitting closer to home, with the latest confirmed case only a few miles away in Northwest Baltimore. Baltimore City Animal Control picked up a dead raccoon from a backyard on the 4300 block of Groveland Avenue, which tested positive for rabies yesterday. Health officials have identified one person who may have been bitten. This follows a kitten which tested positive for rabies in Baltimore County. Health officials are warning the public to contact the city health department if they have any contact with a raccoon. Pet owners are also urged to make sure their pets are up to date on their rabies vaccinations, and to immediately call a vet if any suspicious wounds appear on their pet.
