🚀 Moody Pushes To Plant U.S. Space Academy On Florida’s Space Coast Sen. Ashley Moody says her first bill when the Senate is back in Washington will try to put the new U.S. Space Academy on Florida’s Space Coast. The academy was set in motion last week when President Trump signed an executive order creating a NASA-led commission to design it. No campus has been chosen yet. Moody wants it tied to Kennedy Space Center, Cape Canaveral, and the rest of Brevard’s launch complex. The school would train students heading into the U.S. Space Force, NASA, and the commercial space industry. Moody’s office is framing it as a natural fit after launches from the Space Coast jumped more than 500 percent since 2016. Moody and Rep. Mike Haridopolos also joined other Florida lawmakers in a letter to the White House and NASA asking that the academy come here. Other cities, including Houston and Huntsville, are already being floated. Florida Scoop’s Take: This is still a pitch, not a done deal. But if you live anywhere near Titusville, Merritt Island, Cocoa Beach, or Cape Canaveral, this is the kind of fight that could shape the next decade of jobs, traffic, and launches.
