Mayor Zohran Mamdani has declared September 11 an official citywide “Day of Remembrance and Service” ahead of the 25th anniversary of the 9/11 terror attacks. The city will hold a moment of silence and encourage memorial events, educational programs and volunteer service honoring the victims, first responders, survivors and families impacted by the attacks. Mamdani also signed a separate executive order modernizing NYC’s emergency preparedness and continuity plans to help ensure essential city services remain operational during emergencies.
