🚨 ARREST IN MP SALMA ZAHID ARSON LEAVES MOHAMAD FAKIH’S ‘PRO-ISRAEL’ INSINUATION LOOKING RECKLESSLY WRONG When vehicles outside Liberal MP Salma Zahid’s Scarborough home were torched last month, pro-Palestinian activist Mohamad Fakih quickly pointed toward pro-Israel advocacy groups. “Regardless of who committed this attack,” Fakih wrote, “we cannot ignore the climate of hostility” surrounding Zahid. He specifically accused pro-Israel groups of publicly attacking and amplifying “damaging narratives” about Zahid and others who speak against Israel, before declaring: “Hate fuels these consequences.” Now Toronto Police have arrested 24-year-old Roshvin Crofton, who faces five charges in connection with the August 27 arson, while investigators continue searching for a second suspect. Crofton has no publicly reported connection to the Jewish community, Israel advocacy or any pro-Israel organization. An individual bearing the same name and matching Crofton’s age has previously faced serious criminal charges involving stolen vehicles and, separately, an alleged armed robbery and shooting. Those cases have not been definitively confirmed to involve the same Roshvin Crofton, and should therefore not be presented as established history. But based on everything publicly known today, the arrest makes Fakih’s rush to inject Israel into the story look extraordinarily reckless — and increasingly far-fetched.
