Scattered Storms Expected Across South Florida This Afternoon NWS Miami says scattered showers and thunderstorms will develop across South Florida this afternoon into early evening. The main threats are heavy downpours, frequent lightning, and gusty winds of 40 to 50 mph. Localized flooding is possible in urban areas if a storm dumps rain quickly. Isolated pockets could see 2 to 3 inches in a short time. Storms are most likely between 2 p.m. and 8 p.m., and NWS has the highest confidence for impacts inland. Coverage includes Miami-Dade, Broward, Palm Beach, and points west toward the interior. Highs will be near 90, with heat index values around 105 before storms move through.
