Search Underway For South Florida Family After Plane Vanishes Off Bahamas A small plane carrying four members of a South Florida family went missing Monday on a flight home from the Bahamas. The five-seat Piper PA-34, tail number N212ML, left Great Harbour Cay around 11:12 a.m. bound for Miami Executive Airport. Air traffic control lost contact about 13 miles west of Andros Island. On board were pilot Mario Lamar, 80, his wife Lili Lamar, 79, and their grandchildren Sofi Sosa, 28, and Christian Sosa, 22. Family members say Lamar has more than 40 years of flying experience. Bahamas police believe the plane may have gone down off Red Bays in North Andros. The U.S. Coast Guard launched an HC-144 Ocean Sentry to assist the search. Bad weather later forced crews to suspend operations. The family is asking anyone with a boat, aircraft, or information to help. Florida Scoop’s Take: This is a developing search.
