Gov. Kathy Hochul announced increased security around Jewish communities and shuls across New York ahead of Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur, with State Police boosting patrols near Jewish neighborhoods and religious institutions. The state is also providing a record $70 million in security funding to 290 nonprofit organizations for measures including surveillance cameras, alarms, barriers, shatter-resistant glass and cybersecurity upgrades.
