šā CHICKEN: Mamdani Says He āWelcomesā Jewish Students Praying Outside Gracie Mansion, But Says Heāll Probably Be Somewhere Else Hundreds of Modern Orthodox Jewish students are preparing to gather outside New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdaniās official Gracie Mansion residence Friday morning for communal prayer, Jewish songs and a public expression of Jewish and Zionist pride. But when the students arrive, the mayor says he probably wonāt be there. Asked by reporters about the planned gathering, Mamdani said he āwelcomesā the students and supports their right to assemble outside Gracie Mansion. āI welcome them,ā Mamdani said, adding that whether the gathering is considered a vigil or protest, āthey have the room and space to do so outside of Gracie Mansion.ā Then came the notable part. āI think that at the time that they are there, I will probably be somewhere else across the city.ā Students from prominent Modern Orthodox schools including Ramaz and SAR are expected to participate. Organizers say the gathering is intended to send a message that Jewish New Yorkers want to feel safe while proudly expressing their Jewish and Zionist identities. So Mamdani says theyāre welcome at his residence. He just apparently wonāt be there to hear them. Whether that is simply a scheduling matter or a deliberate decision to avoid the gathering is unclear. Mamdani did not elaborate on where he expects to be or why he anticipates being away during the event. šøļø READ MORE: https://jewishbreakingnews.com/jewish-students-to-pray-outside-mayor-mamdanis-gracie-mansion-residence/
