TOUR BUS BURSTS INTO FLAMES ON 5 FREEWAY IN BURBANK DURING MORNING COMMUTE A private tour bus caught fire on the southbound 5 Freeway in Burbank around 8:20 a.m. Monday, sending thick smoke and flames pouring from the rear of the vehicle. According to the CHP, the bus continued driving while on fire, apparently without the driver realizing what was happening. The driver eventually pulled over just past the Buena Vista Street exit, allowing passengers to evacuate safely. Burbank firefighters extinguished the blaze, but the rear of the bus sustained extensive fire damage. No injuries were reported. The fire forced lane closures and caused major traffic backups during the morning rush hour. The cause remains under investigation.
