The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office has ordered about 1,000 cowboy hats for deputies as a new addition to the department’s uniforms. Sheriff Rosie Cordero-Stutz announced the change Sunday in a social media post. The hats cost $132.50 each, according to the sheriff’s office. The department told Local 10 News that deputies of all ranks will be eligible to receive the hats, but wearing them will not be mandatory.
