St. Pete Man Charged In Two Pinellas Bank Robberies While Wearing Old Man Mask A 40-year-old St. Petersburg man is facing federal charges after allegedly robbing banks in Largo and St. Petersburg while wearing a realistic prosthetic “old man” mask. David Sartin, Jr. is accused of hitting a Largo bank on August 24 and a St. Petersburg bank on September 15. In both cases, he walked up to the teller counter in the mask (with gray facial hair), a hat, glasses, and gloves, demanded cash, and told the tellers not to include dye packs. Sartin was already on supervised release for a previous federal conviction. He was sentenced to more than 10 years in prison after robbing five banks in Texas in 2016 using a similar disguise. Investigators say they recovered the old-man mask, another prosthetic mask, dark-framed glasses, paint-stained work gloves, a fake handgun, and clothing matching the surveillance footage from his home and a storage unit. They also found a handwritten journal titled “God’s Best friend is a Bank Robber!” Each charge carries up to 20 years in federal prison. A criminal complaint is an accusation, and he is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
