Police Bust Suspected Drug Lab in Bnei Brak Apartment, Arrest Two Men

Feb 23, 2026·2 min read

Israeli police have dismantled a suspected drug laboratory in Bnei Brak, arresting two young men and seizing dozens of cannabis plants. Police said detectives from the Bnei Brak–Ramat Gan station, operating under the Israel Police, raided an apartment on Dangur Street on Sunday after obtaining a court-issued search warrant.

Inside the residence, officers discovered what they believe was a fully functioning drug-growing facility. Police said the lab contained 156 cannabis plants weighing a combined 31 kilograms.

In addition to the plants, investigators found approximately 10 grams of a substance suspected to be cocaine inside a vehicle parked near the apartment.

Two suspects were taken into custody at the scene: a 25-year-old resident of Bnei Brak and a 24-year-old man from Rechovot.

Both men were transferred for questioning and later remanded into custody. A court has extended their detention until Thursday as the investigation continues.

Police officials have not yet said whether additional suspects are being sought or whether the operation is linked to wider drug distribution networks.

Following the raid, Tel Aviv District Commander Haim Sargrof signed an administrative order mandating the closure of the apartment for one month, through March 23.

Authorities said the measure is intended to prevent further illegal activity at the site and to deter similar operations in residential areas.

The bust comes amid stepped-up efforts by Israeli law enforcement to crack down on domestic drug production, which has increasingly shifted from rural greenhouses to hidden urban apartments.

Police officials say such operations pose risks not only due to illegal drug activity but also because of fire hazards, electrical tampering, and public safety concerns.
