JERUSALEM (VINnews) — The Israel Defense Forces on Wednesday eliminated a Hamas terrorist who was planning an imminent sniper attack on IDF troops, the military said.
Ibrahim Abu Tzakar, who operated under the cover of a paramedic in Hamas’ medical network, was killed in a precise airstrike in Gaza, the IDF announced Thursday. He had led and participated in multiple attacks against Israeli forces and the State of Israel throughout the ongoing war, according to the military.
“Abu Tzakar posed an immediate threat to IDF troops and was eliminated in a precise strike,” the IDF said. Prior to the operation, the military took steps to reduce the risk of civilian casualties, including the use of precise munitions and aerial surveillance.
The IDF described Abu Tzakar as exploiting his paramedic role to advance terrorist activity, thereby endangering Gaza’s medical system and civilian population.
IDF troops remain deployed in the Southern Command in accordance with the ceasefire agreement and will continue operations to neutralize any immediate threats to Israeli civilians and soldiers, the statement added.
No further details on the location of the strike within Gaza or potential collateral damage were immediately released.
