Sanzer Chassidus Plans Mass Protests After Arrest Of Avreich And Yeshiva Bochur

Leaders of the Sanzer Chassidus convened an emergency meeting Tuesday as the chassidus prepares to launch a series of large-scale protests following the arrests of an avreich and a yeshiva bochur who are currently being held in Military Prison 10 over draft-related issues.

According to Hebrew media reports, an urgent message was sent to thousands of Sanzerr chassidim across Israel calling on them to prepare for a coordinated public campaign demanding the immediate release of the two detainees.

The avreich, who was arrested last Friday, is the father of two young children and a grandson of the late Rosh Yeshiva, Harav Eliyahu Shemerler zt”l, and the late Stropkover Rebbe zt”l. A second arrest followed Monday night, when a Sanzer yeshiva bochur was taken into custody in Bnei Brak.

In response, Sanzer community leaders from across the country gathered Tuesday afternoon in Kiryat Sanz in Netanya to coordinate what are expected to be multiple simultaneous protests in several major chareidi population centers.

According to individuals familiar with the plans, organizers are seeking to stage coordinated demonstrations designed to maximize participation and public impact.

The move marks a significant expansion of the anti-draft protests, which until now have been concentrated primarily in Yerushalayim and central Israel. With Sanz headquartered in Netanya, the city is now expected to become a new focal point for demonstrations.
