Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu is expected to travel to Washington on Saturday night to attend the funeral of Sen. Lindsey Graham, one of Israel’s strongest allies in the U.S. Senate, according to a report by Channel 14.
Netanyahu is expected to remain in the U.S. through Wednesday. During the visit, he is also scheduled to meet with President Donald Trump to discuss the war with Iran and the latest developments across the Middle East.
In a tribute following Graham’s passing, Netanyahu described the longtime senator as both “a great friend of Israel and a cherished friend of mine.”
“We have no better friend than Lindsey,” Netanyahu said during their recent meeting.
The prime minister also praised Graham’s unwavering support for the U.S.-Israel alliance.
“Lindsey understood that the security of Israel and America are inseparable,” Netanyahu said. “He devoted his life to defending America, strengthening our alliance, and standing up for the free world.”
