Agudah Rockland’s Adinah Friedman Family Resource Center recently hosted a Zoom workshop designed to help parents of children with special needs better understand the special education process and confidently advocate for their children.

The virtual session focused on key topics including the transition to kindergarten, the Individualized Education Program (IEP) process, school district responsibilities, and parents’ legal rights. Participants also learned about available resources and the steps families can take if they disagree with a school district’s recommendations regarding their child’s educational needs.

Parents were given the opportunity to ask questions and receive guidance tailored to their individual situations, helping them better navigate what can often be a complex process.

Rabbi Shragi Greenbaum said Agudah Rockland has become an important resource for families seeking assistance with special education services.

“Over the last year, our office has helped more than 200 children and their families navigate the system and advocated on their behalf when necessary,” Rabbi Greenbaum said. “We are here to help your family as well.”
