The Village of Wesley Hills announced Friday that Orange & Rockland’s gas line replacement project along Grandview Avenue is progressing ahead of schedule, with several key milestones already completed. Grandview Avenue, from Route 306 to Forshay Road, has largely reopened to traffic, with the exception of the area near the Forshay Road intersection. Construction continues Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to approximately 3:30 p.m.

Motorists should continue to expect closures and detours on Forshay Road between Parker Boulevard and Grandview Avenue, although portions of the roadway may periodically reopen as work allows.

According to the updated project schedule, Forshay Road will remain closed in phases through approximately August 12, with closures shifting between Parker Boulevard and Grandview Avenue on some days and Hastings Road and Grandview Avenue on others. Once that phase is complete, Grandview Avenue between Forshay Road and Willow Tree Road will be closed for approximately three to four weeks, with that portion of the work expected to wrap up in early to mid-September. Completion of that phase will mark the end of the new gas main installation.

After the gas main is installed, crews will begin connecting individual homes throughout the project area. Those hookups are not expected to require full road closures, though temporary single-lane closures with flaggers directing traffic may be in place.

The overall project remains on track for completion by mid-October. Village officials said they will continue providing updates as additional information becomes available from Orange & Rockland and its contractors.
