R’ Moshe Levenhartz, a longtime member of the Kfar Chabad village in Israel, passed away on Friday, 24 Av, 5786.

He was 91.

R’ Moshe was the son of R’ Avraham Shmuel Levenhartz OBM, who was among the Chabad Chassidim who displayed great mesiras nefesh to preserve Jewish life and observance under Soviet rule.

After meriting to leave the Soviet Union, his father immigrated to Eretz Yisroel and, following the Rebbe’s directive, settled in Kfar Chabad.

R’ Moshe built his home on the foundations of Torah and Chassidus. For many years, he worked at the textile factory in Kfar Chabad together with members of his family. He was known as a modest, G-d-fearing man of fine character.

The Levenhartz family is among the well-known Chassidic families of the Chabad community in Eretz Yisroel. Over the years, members of the family played a role in building and strengthening the community following the years of mesiras nefesh they endured in the Soviet Union.

He is survived by his sons, R’ Yaakov Eliyahu Levenhartz of Kfar Chabad Beis and R’ Avraham Shmuel Chaim (Shmulik) Levenhartz of Kfar Chabad; his daughter, Mrs. Rivka Schiff of Lod; as well as grandchildren, great-grandchildren and extended family.

The levaya took place on Motzei Shabbos in Kfar Chabad with burial in Yerushalayim.

The family will sit shiva at the home of his son R’ Shmulik Levenhartz, 40 Admur HaRayatz Street in Kfar Chabad.
