An alert Chaverim of Rockland member helped Clarkstown Police arrest a suspect believed to be connected to multiple incidents of indecent exposure targeting women, including incidents dating back to January.

The incident unfolded Sunday when a Chaverim member was making a return at Kohl’s in Nanuet and heard a woman yelling as a man fled the area. Realizing something was wrong, the member immediately began recording and obtained the make, model and license plate number of the fleeing vehicle.

The member subsequently learned that the man had reportedly exposed himself inappropriately to women and immediately relayed the information to Chaverim.

Another Chaverim member recognized the description and began reviewing information from previous incidents. He was able to connect the description to several similar reports in the Monsey area dating back to January.

Clarkstown Police were contacted and responded to investigate. A short time later, the suspect’s vehicle was located parked outside Target in Nanuet.

Additional Chaverim volunteers responded and joined Clarkstown Police in canvassing the area for the suspect. During the search, a Chaverim member recognized the individual near the customer service area inside Target, where the suspect worked.

Clarkstown Police confirmed that he was the individual they were searching for and took him into custody.

The investigation is now expected to include the previous incidents reported over the past several months.
