Syrian internal security forces announced that they captured an ISIS cell in the city of Khan Arnabah in the Quneitra Governorate in southern Syria on Sunday, Kan News reported.

The city is located just a few kilometers from the Israeli border in the Golan Heights.

According to the report, Syrian internal security forces said in a statement that the cell was involved in collecting weapons, transferring explosive devices and equipment for manufacturing explosives, as well as carrying out other activities to facilitate the movement of ISIS terrorists.

The captured cell numbered nine terrorists, including its leader, Musab Khalil al-Sheikh, who is known by the nickname “al-Sini.”

Last month, Syria thwarted an attempt to smuggle weapons and missiles across the border with Iraq. According to the authorities, an investigation into the incident found that the weapons were intended to reach Hezbollah in Lebanon.

Syrian security forces stopped the smuggling operation when they intercepted a truck loaded with weapons near the Iraqi border. Syria’s Interior Ministry said that the truck contained 150 explosive drones, long-range missiles, and anti-tank missiles.

In June, IDF soldiers eliminated the members of a terrorist cell in the security zone in southern Syria who were believed to be on the way to Israel to carry out a mass attack.

As YWN reported on Sunday, the IDF has established nine military positions in Syria in recent months with the aim of preventing hostile elements from operating in the area or infiltrating Israel.
