An extraordinary display of Hashgacha Pratis unfolded at Camp Chazon in the French mountains after a fire tore through one of the camp’s dormitories — while every single camper and staff member was safely away from the premises.

A group of 60 bochurim from England were staying in a chalet in the French mountains. Yesterday, they traveled to Switzerland to visit Glacier 3000. Upon their return, they discovered that one of the dormitories had caught fire and was completely engulfed in smoke.

The hashgacha was striking.

For the first time in two weeks, the entire camp — nearly 80 people including all staff — were out of the building on the trip. Not a single person was injured or harmed.

It also occurred on the final day of camp, meaning accommodation only needed to be arranged for one night. In addition, the camp had already been largely cleared and cleaned, which helped prevent the fire from spreading further.

Remarkably, none of the other buildings — including the beis hamedrash — were affected at all.

And most incredible of all: although the fire destroyed almost everything in its path, nearly every pair of tefillin was miraculously saved, left untouched on beds that were otherwise burned to a cinder.
