
NYS THRUWAY: Over-Height Tractor-Trailer Strikes South Broadway Overpass, Overturns; All Lanes Reopened (Update 4:00 PM)
All lanes of the southbound New York State Thruway have reopened following a tractor-trailer rollover near the Tappan Zee Bridge Monday afternoon.
According to New York State Police, the crash occurred at approximately 12:20 p.m. in South Nyack when a 2020 Mack tractor-trailer struck the South Broadway Bridge overpass. The truck then overturned and struck a 2025 Toyota sedan that was parked on the right shoulder of the roadway.
The driver of the Toyota was transported to Nyack Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The tractor-trailer driver was not injured.
State Police identified the truck driver as Pernell Harris, 50, of York, South Carolina. Harris was ticketed for operating an over-height vehicle. The tractor-trailer is registered to Eastern Express, Inc. of Indiana.
State Police announced in a 4:00 p.m. update that all lanes had reopened following the crash. The investigation remains ongoing.
