Orange & Rockland Utilities to Begin $830,000 Gas Main Replacement Project on College Road in Monsey
Orange & Rockland and its contractor, Precision Pipeline Solutions, are scheduled to begin a major gas main replacement project along College Road in Monsey on Wednesday, August 12.
The approximately $830,000 infrastructure project will replace roughly 5,028 feet of aging bare steel gas main with new plastic main along College Road, stretching from Smolley Drive to Carlton Road, as well as a small section of Carlton Road heading west.
According to O&R, the work is intended to strengthen the natural gas system and improve reliability in the area.
The project will include trenching and the replacement of 4-inch and 2-inch steel mains with new 4-inch and 2-inch plastic mains. In addition, nine individual gas services on College Road and two services on Carlton Road will be replaced. Affected customers will be notified in advance to schedule the service replacement work.
The project is expected to take approximately five weeks to complete, weather permitting.
Motorists and residents should expect construction activity and temporary traffic impacts in the area throughout the project. The contractor will establish work zones with appropriate signage, cones and other safety measures in accordance with New York State traffic control requirements.
