Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said Tuesday that Russia used North Korean-made ballistic missiles in a deadly attack on the Zaporizhzhia region that killed six people and wounded 20 others.

Zelensky said the attack included North Korean ballistic missiles alongside guided aerial bombs, highlighting what he described as the growing military cooperation between Moscow and Pyongyang.

“The city was attacked by North Korean ballistic missiles,” Zelensky wrote on X.

The Ukrainian leader made the comments as Kyiv vowed to continue carrying out long-range strikes deep inside Russian territory.

Ukraine recently confirmed a strike targeting oil industry infrastructure in the Siberian city of Tobolsk, part of an effort to increase pressure on Moscow and demonstrate that continuing the war will carry consequences far beyond the front lines.

Zelensky said Ukraine intends to conduct additional strikes deep inside Russia, arguing that Moscow must be made to understand that reaching a peace agreement is necessary.

The Ukrainian president also warned that Russia has received another shipment of ballistic missiles from North Korea.

According to Zelensky, Moscow is additionally preparing to receive a force of as many as 50,000 North Korean troops to support Russia’s war effort.

Zelensky warned that the expanding military partnership between Russia and North Korea extends beyond the war in Ukraine, saying cooperation between the two countries — including the joint development and battlefield use of weapons — poses a direct threat to countries in Asia.
