An Israeli man from Petach Tikvah was niftar in Peru after spending approximately three and a half years imprisoned in the country.

The 62-year-old was niftar while still in custody, prompting ZAKA’s International Unit to begin working together with Israel’s Foreign Ministry, the family and authorities in Peru.

The efforts are focused on completing the necessary procedures as quickly as possible and bringing the aron to Israel for kevurah.

Yossi Landau, operations officer for ZAKA’s Lachish region, said the organization is accompanying the family and working with local authorities to ensure the niftar is brought to kevurah with the proper kavod.
