GAZA FORCE MOVES FORWARD: African Officers Visit U.S. Command Center In Kiryat Gat

Aug 17, 2026·2 min read

Senior military officers from Uganda and Burundi visited the American command center in Kiryat Gat on Monday as efforts advance to establish the multinational International Stabilization Force that would operate in the Gaza Strip.

Both African countries have given preliminary approval to send troops to Gaza as part of the ISF, Kan News reported. The officers arrived at the American command center Monday morning amid advanced discussions with the two countries over their potential participation in the force.

During the visit, the Ugandan and Burundian officers met with American representatives at the command center as well as IDF officials, who briefed them on the plans being developed for Gaza.

The visit marks part of a broader American effort to recruit countries for the multinational force envisioned under President Trump’s 20-point plan for Gaza. Washington is currently working to bring additional countries into the force and secure the personnel needed for its deployment.

Morocco has been selected to train the multinational force, while discussions are also underway with Kosovo, Albania and Kazakhstan regarding their potential participation.

Indonesia, despite previous reports that it could contribute personnel, does not currently intend to send forces. The Americans are therefore seeking additional troops from other countries, including nations in Africa, with the discussions involving Uganda and Burundi now described as being at an advanced stage.

The International Stabilization Force was included as a key component of President Trump’s 20-point plan announced last September for the release of the hostages and an end to the war in Gaza.

Under Section 15 of the plan, a temporary International Stabilization Force would be established in cooperation with the United States, Arab countries, Egypt and Jordan. The force is intended to train and work alongside Palestinian police forces in Gaza and secure the Strip’s borders.

When the plan was unveiled, President Trump said Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had agreed to its provisions and that additional regional leaders, including those from Turkey and Indonesia, had been involved.

The latest visit to Kiryat Gat comes as the American administration continues working to move toward implementation of the second stage of President Trump’s Gaza plan, with the formation of the multinational stabilization force among the major components now being pursued.
