NEW GAZA PLAN: Hamas Must Surrender All Weapons At Once Before Full IDF Withdrawal
The Board of Peace is moving toward a new plan for disarming Hamas that would require the terror group and other armed organizations in Gaza to surrender all of their weapons at once, abandoning an earlier model that envisioned disarmament in stages.
Under the plan, a full IDF withdrawal from the Gaza Strip would take place only after the disarmament process is completed.
The shift follows a meeting between U.S. special envoy Jared Kushner and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. A Board of Peace official said the new approach would “reduce the gamble” for the countries involved.
“We want complete disarmament without compromises on the issue, and we do not intend to allow various tricks,” the official said, describing the goal as “actual, real, complete and rapid disarmament.”
The official added that if Hamas refuses to disarm, Israel would receive international diplomatic backing to carry out the process by force.
During the meeting, it was agreed that Gaza would not be reconstructed without Hamas being disarmed throughout the Strip. Netanyahu demanded that the first step be the surrender of weapons for destruction to the commander of the International Stabilization Force for Gaza, Gen. Jasper Jeffers, under American supervision.
Kushner said in an interview with Fox News that Hamas has received a “clear ultimatum” to honor the agreements it signed and disarm, or the IDF will do so by force and “finish the job.”
According to Kushner, if Hamas fails to meet its commitments, Israel would receive significantly greater backing from the United States and other countries to complete the operation.
Board of Peace officials say the ultimate objective is agreed upon: Hamas must be fully disarmed and removed from power, Gaza must be completely demilitarized, and only then would Israel fully withdraw from the Strip.
