PSI’s Yom Tov B’Harachava Initiative is once again opening its program to help middle-class families facing the mounting financial burden of Yom Tov expenses, this time ahead of Sukkos.

Working in cooperation with participating local shuls and trusted askanim, PSI is offering qualifying families a 50% discount at participating stores, with savings of up to $1,500, depending on family size and other factors.

The initiative is geared toward families who maintain a steady income of $100,000 or more and generally support themselves independently throughout the year, do not receive assistance or coupons from tzedakah organizations for Yom Tov, but are nevertheless feeling the added financial strain associated with Yom Tov expenses.

Organizers noted that many families earning a respectable parnassah are finding the costs of Yom Tov increasingly overwhelming. These families often do not qualify for traditional assistance programs despite quietly struggling under the financial pressure.

Approved families will receive a personalized PSI card linked to their phone number. The card provides a 50% discount at participating stores until the family’s approved balance is reached. The card can be used through Rosh Chodesh Cheshvan, October 10.

Applications are reviewed confidentially and discreetly in coordination with a trusted representative of the applicant’s local shul.

Registration opened August 13, and the deadline to apply is Thursday, August 20, 2026. Families are encouraged to apply promptly, as the approval process requires coordination with their shul and can take time to complete.

The Sukkos initiative follows PSI’s Yom Tov B’Harachava program ahead of Pesach, continuing its effort to allow families experiencing financial pressure to prepare for Yom Tov B’derech Kavod and with dignity.
