Assemblyman Aron Wieder met recently with Piermont Mayor Nathan Mitchell and Trustee Jeff Gordon to discuss the village’s priorities and how he can continue to support Piermont in Albany.

During the meeting, village officials outlined several pressing needs.

Wieder shared that he was proud to have secured $50,000 in state funding for the replacement and upgrade of police and fire department radios. The funding will provide both departments with reliable, up-to-date communication equipment critical for emergency response, officer and firefighter safety, and coordination between agencies during daily operations and emergency incidents.

When Mayor Mitchell raised the urgent need for drainage improvements on Ritie Street, noting the significant cost burden on village residents, Wieder announced an additional $100,000 grant to support the project. The funding will go toward the installation of a properly sized stormwater drainage system to prevent erosion and better manage runoff.

“I’m proud to secure this funding to help Piermont address important infrastructure needs, protect homes and property from stormwater and erosion, and reduce the financial burden on local taxpayers,” said Assemblyman Wieder.

Mayor Mitchell and Trustee Gordon thanked Assemblyman Wieder for his support, noting the grants will make a meaningful difference in improving public safety and addressing long-standing infrastructure needs in the village.
