U.S. Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee revealed that a joint mechanism incorporating an international force is currently operating in Judea and Samaria in an effort to reduce tensions in the area.

In an interview with Channel 13 News, Huckabee said the force includes participation from Canada and European countries. He added that the United States wants serious consequences for anyone involved in acts of terrorism intended to frighten residents in their homes.

Huckabee also addressed Jared Kushner’s meeting with Hamas leaders, describing it as “excellent and friendly.” He said Hamas was given an unequivocal message that it will have no role in Gaza’s future government and will be required to disarm.

On Iran, Huckabee rejected the assessment that President Trump would hold back from military action because of the timing of the U.S. midterm elections. He said Trump would prefer a scenario in which Iran recognizes that it will not have nuclear weapons rather than going to war, but stressed that election timing would not stop him from acting if necessary.
